| FATHER/DAUGHTER DANCE & MUSIC...
The music you choose should be special in some way to you
both.
I can help you with song selections, but ultimately I'd recommend
that the song reflect your feelings about each other and your father/daughter relationship as it has grown through the time you've known each other.
In the past, I've worked with songs that highlight the seriousness of the occasion all the way through sentimental, fun, funny and downright crazy. Anything goes as long as it means something to you both because this is your dance together as married daughter with the first man in your life - your Dad.

Most of my Father/Daughter couples take my five lesson package and use the five hours to work weekly with each other on an easy going dance that incorporates some fun moves, lots of lead and follow and a pretty ending.
Sometimes the daughters are out of town so Dad will come in and bring his wife or significant other and practice with them. Often the daughter that was out of town will come in for the week or two before the wedding and we can get in some quick practice.
I try to keep the moves different from the ones the bride and groom will be doing for their first dance but similar enough so the bride doesn't have to learn too much new choreography unless of course the Father/Daughter dance is meant to be entirely different.
I had one bride and groom work with a foxtrot and then the bride and her Dad worked with a swing - lots of fun for all the guests to watch! See below for Cindy's testimonial.
Just wanted to let you know that
Adam and my dance was a great success! Everyone was impressed
with it. They didn't know Adam could move like that. My dad
and I also impressed the crowd as well. Our wedding was beautiful
and I can't wait to watch our video to see the dance. Thanks
again for all your hard work in teaching us! - Cindy, Adam
& my dad, Pete
The sky's the limit and please feel free to email me the song(s) you're considering and I can let you know what type of dance would work well and give you an idea of scheduling. |
